There are various email clients available in the market, both commercialware as well as freeware.<\/p>\n

Email Client Applications – Popular Among Desktop Users<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Here is this post, we’ll talk about IBM Notes, aka as Lotus Notes. IBM Notes is an email software client provided by IBM<\/a><\/strong> aka International Business Machines<\/em>, that offers you business collaboration functionality including email, contacts, calendars, to-do lists, feeds, etc. into an easy-to-use workspace. Also, you can use IBM Notes as a stand-alone application, and with IBM Domino Server (formerly known as Lotus Domino Server) as well in order to make it a client-server software platform.<\/p>\n

Lotus Notes Tutorial for Lotus Notes Migration<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

IBM Notes email client has a built-in feature that enables users to migrate their email data from Outlook Express, Outlook or Exchange with ease. The Lotus Notes Migration Tools (aka nUpgrade.exe<\/strong>) are highly useful in case if you want to import your mailbox data from other email clients to IBM Notes. It performs migration from Outlook Express<\/em>, MS Outlook<\/em> or Exchange Server<\/em>. Since it comes as a built-in tool with IBM Notes, so there’s no need to download it from any other source. But it would be only available if you have selected it during Lotus Notes installation. I have described the whole procedure for Lotus Notes installation below. Also, I have shown how to install Lotus Notes Migration tools on your system at the time of installation.<\/p>\n

How to Install Lotus Notes?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Like other computer programs or email clients, IBM Notes is also very easy-to-install. All you need to do is just download the software .exe (executable file) from IBM official website<\/strong><\/a>. Once you successfully download the software setup, go to its location and double-click it. I’ll show you how to do that with the help of the screenshots shown below:<\/p>\n

Step 1:<\/strong><\/span> Once you double-click the setup, the welcome screen is shown below:<\/p>\n

Be patient while the setup is being processed.<\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/strong><\/span> You can see the Lotus Notes – InstallShield Wizard<\/strong><\/em> on your screen. Now remove the installation files.<\/p>\n

Important note:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Select option #1<\/strong><\/span> to unpack the files used to perform the installation to a temporary location. You may also select option #2<\/strong><\/span> to unpack the files used to perform the installation to the location specified below. If you select option #2<\/strong><\/span>, you can change the folder location. Then click Next<\/strong> to continue the process.<\/p>\n

Step 3:<\/strong><\/span> This will start extracting the contents of this package.<\/p>\n

Please wait until the process is running.<\/p>\n

It’ll take a few seconds to complete the extraction process.<\/p>\n

Step 4:<\/strong><\/span> The Lotus Notes 8.5.3 – Install Wizard<\/strong><\/em> will appear on your screen.<\/p>\n

To start the installation, click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 5:<\/span><\/strong> Read the software license agreement here before installing it on your system.<\/p>\n

Check I accept the terms in the license agreement<\/em><\/strong> box and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 6:<\/strong><\/span> Now select the installation path. Below is the default path:<\/p>\n

You can change it if needed. Also, define Single User Install<\/strong> or Multi-User Install<\/strong> here. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Installation of Migration Tools <\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Step 1:<\/strong><\/span> In this step, you need to select the program features you want to install.<\/p>\n

Click the drop-down arrow near Notes Client<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/strong><\/span> Again click the drop-down arrow near Migration Tools<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Click This feature will be installed on local hard drive<\/strong><\/em> option to enable this feature.<\/p>\n

Step 3:<\/strong><\/span> The Migration Tools<\/strong> feature is available for both Exchange<\/strong><\/em> as well as Outlook Express<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Click the drop-down arrow near Exchange Migration<\/strong>. And click “<\/strong>This feature will be installed on local hard drive”<\/strong><\/em> option to enable this feature.<\/p>\n

Step 4:<\/strong><\/span> Now click the drop-down arrow near Outlook Express Migration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 5:<\/strong><\/span> The Migration Tools feature is now available for both Exchange as well as Outlook Express. This is an optional feature.<\/p>\n

If you don’t want to use Migration Tools<\/strong><\/em> feature, you may keep it disabled. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 6:<\/strong><\/span> The wizard is now ready to begin the installation.<\/p>\n

Check the options given above, and select them as per your requirement. Now click Install<\/strong> to start the installation process.<\/p>\n

Step 7:<\/span><\/strong> The program features you have selected are being installed.<\/p>\n

Please wait until the installation process gets successfully completed.<\/p>\n

Step 8:<\/strong><\/span> The Install Wizard<\/strong> has successfully installed Lotus Notes 8.5.3<\/strong><\/em> on your system.<\/p>\n
