Desktop users excessively use email clients for communication purpose. There are various email clients available in the market which support different file formats. A time comes when we need to switch from one email client to another, and email migration becomes a necessary task. In this post, we’ll discuss on Exchange to Notes migration, and how to perform EDB to NSF conversion manually without using paid software.
Excessive use of emails makes email clients more popular day by day. Everyone, be it an individual or an organization, is using emails for communication. As I earlier mentioned that there are various email clients available, desktop users have multiple options. But generally, email clients don’t support the same format to save mailbox content. While switching from one email client to another, email migration becomes challenging. How? Think you’re using Exchange Outlook where your email messages are saved in EDB (Exchange database) file. Now you’re planning to switch to IBM Notes (formerly known as Lotus Notes) that supports NSF database format.
As both the email clients don’t support same file format, users may face a challenge while migrating mailbox data from Exchange Outlook to IBM Notes. Before discussing further here, let’s talk about why we need to EDB to NSF conversion.
Are you switching from Exchange to Notes?
If your Outlook client is connected with Exchange Server, it stores all your email messages and other mailbox data in EDB file. When you switch to IBM Notes, you can’t access or use your old mailbox content as IBM Notes doesn’t support EDB format. In order to use your mailbox data stored in EDB files, you must convert EDB to NSF format. There could be any reason behind Exchange to Notes migration. For example, you’re going to a new organization where you need to use IBM Notes, you’re changing your working platform from Exchange to Notes, you’ve received an EDB file from your client and you want to open it on IBM Notes, etc.
